Welcome to the Local Food Project

We all eat!  But is our food system making the grade?  The Vancouver Island Research Alliance puts in motion community wisdom and academic expertise to discover and co-create ways to build a better food system on Vancouver Island. See more about VICRA and the Local Food Project

Final reports and digital stories were created documenting what we know and what we learned, as well as suggesting what more we can do. Taking action, creating policies or developing partnerships for a more sustainable, health oriented food system that meets the needs of Vancouver Island residents and their communities.

For a summary of the Local Food Project, watch the digital story or download the final report

The navigation menu to the left, or clicking on the following project themes, will take you to digital stories and final reports on:
Climate Change and Food,

and
Indigenous Food Systems
.

We hope that as you review the evidence and the work of academics, students, health practitioners, farmers, and community organizations, you will consider taking the local food pledge.
